Dear Tomorrow,

I believe an apology is in order. I am sorry for letting my own interests skew my actions, for knowing better and acting against that knowledge. I am sorry you do not get the same opportunities of preservation as we did. Most of all I am sorry for not having faith in us and you, even for a brief moment.

Though we in the present time are lost we are still learning. We are slowly realizing the destruction we left you, the depleted lands, the disrespect we ignorantly held towards you and our home we share. I hope you can not only forgive our distracted greedy qualities, but I hope you learn as well. We have already made these mistakes for you to rise from, so please rise.

Rise above the greed. Rise above consumerism. Rise above waste, ignorance and our excuses.

There is still time for hope and faith and that time is both now and then. I believe in our ingenuity, creativity and compassion. I believe that as you may rise we can too here and now.

We are on the brink of revelation. A revelation based on knowledge, compassion and regret. I promise to consistently help pursue this revelation in my journey through this life. I promise to no longer turn a blind eye or make excuses. I promise to not keep quiet in this fight for life. When I say life I mean all life for we are not the only beings who deserve to continue to be. Life on earth and its connectivity is a beautiful thing. I hope you continue to agree.

With great faith and love,
Your past

More Messages to the Future

Dear Darlings,

I commit to you to change one thing a year in our lifestyle to live more environmentally friendly.

Dear Daughter,

I want you to be prepared for the world that the generations before you are creating for you. I love you Lucienne, and I will not give up. I will push you and teach you not to give up, either, even if others around you do.

dear tomorrow,

I hope that the state of the environment becomes a part of everyday discourse.

Dear Hailey and Lily,

We know about this. If we don’t fix this for you, it’s our fault.

To my unborn children, hey it’s mummy Cris here!

I am witnessing climate change in a way that I do not like, and I do not know how can I stop it.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will do whatever I can to protect and preserve mother Earth for future generations.

To My Future Child(ren),

The fact that you are reading this means that you would know the answer to a question that has kept me up at night more often than I would like to admit: Did I make you proud?

Dear future Child or Grandchild,

Climate is undeniably changing but it is not top priority.

Future Message to Earth,

Hope there will be no more droughts,
And no more pollution with which we fought,
Regarding every human should be taught,
Ensuring that we uniformly follow these thoughts.

Dear Tomorrow,

This is just the beginning. It’s the accrual of little seeds of change that will lead to the tree of revolution.

My dearest children Ameilia and Alivia,

I want you to hear the whispers of the seasons changing. The rustling of leaves as they gracefully cascade down from their limbs in the fall, birds singing in spring, and frogs that serenade the summer night.

Dear Rowan and Anaka,

If we could talk, I would not be able to bear your gaze as you ask: How could you, the people in a position to change the course of climate change, fail to act?
