In 2050, I will still be fighting against climate change. I feel that it’s not only my duty, but rather my destiny.

To you, my dear!

You want to know how I became an environmentalist? Well I’m still not, but I hope that one day when I finish my degree in Geosciences, I will have the great honor to be called one.

I forever dedicate my green-awareness to the great Clair Patterson. What he did for the humanity was simply heroic. That is how I decided to study geosciences, dreaming that one day I could find a way to make Earth a better place for you to live in. I hope that now that you are reading my letter, all my dreams have become reality. I don’t want to think about it in any other way.

Now, my dear, I’m just going to give one last piece of advice: Dream big. I’m at the crossroad in my life now that I’m writing this letter. I don’t know where the path I’ve chosen will lead me, but one thing is for sure: In 2050, I will still be fighting against climate change. I feel that it’s not only my duty, but rather my destiny.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to ride more and drive less.

To my great-great grandchildren,

I don’t know your name
or even if you’re alive,
but I’m doing all I can
to make sure you survive.

I’m your great- great grandmother
who lived a century ago
in a world far different
from the one you must know.

Dear Beloved Children,

As time progresses, there is hope that value will be placed on all living organisms, including humans, plants, and animals. Life will move at a slower pace, and being on your own time and moving at your individual pace will be the typical way of life. I consider this way of life good living, and I hope that future generations will live on this earth as it was once intended to live in peace and harmony.

To my future self,

It is today on March 6th, 2017 that you have made the decision to make a difference in this world.

Dear Future Ryan,

I promise to be a knight in the campaign of truth seeking.

Dear Grandchildren,

I hope we can pass on a better place to live so that my grandchildren and their future children can enjoy the beauty of nature that our wonderful God has given us.

Dear Lalo,

I hope whatever happens, whatever I can’t imagine that you may face, that you will continue to seek light.

Dear Seamus and Tuva,

So it’s 2050. If the good people are winning the greater struggle, fossil fuels are a shamefully long chapter of the past, and there has been a full scale awakening to the need for only renewable, clean energy.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise composting in my house and getting an EV for my first car.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will stop using plastic and will plant trees. I will also not waste water and electricity.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will take short showers, eat less meat, and buy local more often.

To all the people here on earth,

Who knows what the future would look like? or what will happened in the future? No one knows right? That’s why it it’s scary because we don’t know what lies ahead. We couldn’t stop the future but we can always change it.
