To the students of tomorrow,

Our country was built on several laws, rules, regulations, and protocols. These are meant for our protection, safety, and happiness, as some might say. But do not turn a blind eye when your role models find loopholes. Do not let your role models define who you are, because that is your job. You have the right to life and liberty, do not let them pull your puppet strings. They have no right to suppress your opinions or expression. Know your worth. Know your rights. Most importantly, you have the right to educate for a better tomorrow, for true happiness, safety, and protection.

More Messages to the Future

To My Future Children,

I hope by 2050, our society has taken initiative to be producing energy solely through renewable sources.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will eat vegan, organic, locally grown, and seasonal.

Dear Eleanor,

You are so small. So innocent. So beautiful. For you and for everyone else, I will try harder.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to reach out to more people to ditch driving and consider using public transportation. I promise to convince Marin markets that sensible policies in density and mixed use planning will further enhance everyone’s quality of life.

Dear Nolan, Patrick, Cullen and Gabriel,

This Mother’s Day I am again thinking of my grandsons future and what I am doing to change the world if only by a small fraction.

To My Children,

Is the world really polluted?

Dear Future Self,

I am scared of the things happening right now with our planet.

Dear future child whatever your name is,

Climate change right now is really bad, I’m writing this during the COP26 conference in Glasgow (which is an hour away) and I’m listening to politicians talking about promises for the future. ā€œIf we fail, future generations will never forgive us.ā€ -Boris Johnson

Dear Future,

I hope that things have cooled down. I hope that people and governments have come together to save our earth. I hope that everyone is able to breath clean air, drink clean water and see the beauty in nature that I do. I promise to do my best to take part in repairing the damage we’ve done so that my hopes may come true.

Hola CariƱo,

Life is not easierĀ being a believer but I would not have picked another path. Thanks to my Faith I found myĀ passion to work to stop climate change for your future. Now go play outside and breathe cleanĀ air. Dios te bendiga.

Pick up your trash wherever you go!

Dear Tomorrow,

And, if this summer has taught me anything, I am content (because I have to be) living in this limbo, this seemingly endless waiting for the opportunity to change, when really the opportunity exists within our very selves all along.
