To the next generation,

By now many of you guys probably see the affects of climate change. I have been on this earth for years and unknowingly damaging this planet. College has opened my eyes in realizing that our daily consumption cannot be ignored. The everyday person in this society over consumes or supports huge industries that damage our planet. I hope by the time you read this, there are solutions to the great problems we face. There are trees being cut down just to bring us cheap palm oil! We still cut down trees for paper instead of coming up with an alternative! There are acres of land being destroyed for oil production! I truly hope than years form now our sustainability efforts start to grow.

The planet is a precious and beautiful world and it is a shame to feel like it is hard to save. Unfortunately, I can only do so much to help. People need to realize that although it seems like one person isn’t enough to create change, we are the demand, we can have a say in at least some part of production. There is current political debate about if climate change is real. It seems people think it is possible for places like the poles to just naturally melt or for carbon dioxide to naturally increase in such huge quantities.

To the next person that faces the earth we are leaving now. I say sorry. Many people are still misinformed here in the United States. The people like me who are begging in to be informed, have already contributed 22 years of damage. My hopes is that people can continue to educate others that are not in college to help our earth prevail long and healthy.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Rosie,

But when you are reading this years from now, by the light of a solar powered lamp, know that your dad, mom and millions of others who burned brightly with love for our kids did what we could, when we knew the stakes.

Dear humankind of today and tomorrow,

I do wish to contribute as much as I can, maybe even start a ripple effect, where other people will start taking action too and inspire other people too.

Dear Finn and Cy,

I think a lot about what you might be like when you grow up and about what kind of world you will live in.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate action is to educate youth to create solutions for energy efficiency and conservation opportunities.

Dear Finley,

I wonder if in 2050 we will be looking at a future where fear from the changes at hand has caused people to hate rather than love and provide hope. Perhaps in that world we will we no longer comprehend the biblical texts in a meaningful way. Will climate change be the end of the epoch of God?

Queridos nietas/nietos,

Creo que debo hacer más. Por ello, he decidido escribir esta breve carta para empezar un proceso en el que vaya escribiendo más cartas, conforme vaya teniendo más claridad de mis posibles contribuciones.

Dear Tom and Leena,

I want you to only see the beauty in this world; there is so much of it and I will protect this beauty for as long as I am here on this Earth.

Dear Jack,

Right now you are only a little over 5 weeks old, but you have truly changed my whole world. Your Mom and I always say that we thought we loved before you were born, but now that you have come into the world and we met you, our ability to love just expanded exponentially.

Que se multipliquem estes novos heróis da Terra!

To My Children and My Future Grandchildren,

People are an amazing race and, if we have the will, I believe we have the ingenuity and resources to fix the harm we’ve done.

To our future generations,

I want you to know that some of us do care and we are working towards a better future for you.

Dear Donatella,

We ran through the woods laughing, crying, and living.
