To the future generation:

I’m 22 years old and about to graduate from college. It’s been a long journey and I have no idea how it’s going to go from here on out.

There are many changes happening in the world around us. It’s a confusing time because our president and his administration believe that climate change is a hoax, although we all know that is not. Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise that will help us come together to make a change because humanity is growing farther apart.

The world is cold but you can help make it better again. Love yourself, love those around you, love the Earth; it’s the only one we have. Stop worrying about things you think are beyond your control and start doing something about them. No voice is too small to be heard. Every action counts. Change starts slowly but it accelerates the more you believe in it and help drive it with your passion. You CAN make the world a better place. Never stop believing in yourself.

I promise I will do everything I can to pass a world on to you that you can live in without fear and with as few problems as humanly possible.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will encourage everyone to adopt a plant-based diet. Good for our health, the animals and the planet.

Dear Future,

“I knew you would want to know how the future turned out. You got so anxious about climate change as we grew older.  By coming back, I thought I could help you with that.”

Dear Generations to Be,

If we could all slow down, look around and connect: with each other, the Earth, the sky, the plants and rocks and animals, then maybe we can all remember to treat everyone and everything with respect and live in love.

Pick up your trash wherever you go!

Dear Tomorrow,

I will do my part to help ensure that there is an Earth left when we are done borrowing it.

Dear Tomorrow,

I haven’t met you yet, but I already know you deserve a better tomorrow.

Dear Brothers & Sisters All Across Mother Earth,

I promise to wholeheartedly live my life with an awareness of my personal impact on our communities and our planet.

Dear old dude Mårten,

I know that the 2019 version of me (today that is) wished and hoped for that I did all within my power to turn the world around without loosing sight on the beauty of being alive.

To my children,

I am working with 350.org on shutting down the coal and unconventional gas industries in our country because I cannot think of a more direct way to protect you, the food, water and biodiversity we all love and rely on.

Dear Jamie and Jason,

My inspiration was the two of you. It started with thinking about the world you were inheriting and what your future was going to be like. But then you taught me how important it is to listen to you – to listen to young people.

Minhas lindas,

As causas das mudanças no clima são tão profundas e envolvem tanta gente e tantos lugares.

To My Children and My Future Grandchildren,

People are an amazing race and, if we have the will, I believe we have the ingenuity and resources to fix the harm we’ve done.
