To the future,

It is currently April 2018. When I think of the future of our planet, I like to be hopeful. I am hoping the generations ahead do not have to suffer from the consequences of past generations. This is a difficult concept to grasp because we can already see great damage that has been done to our planet. It’s no secret that people tend to take advantage of the planet we live in because it won’t matter to them what happens in the future.

Today, we currently have President Donald Trump in office who does not believe in climate change. A person like him has a lot of power in influencing people. This is why I believe educating the youth is so important. Education is one of the most valuable resources that we can give to the next generation. Educating them on how to treat our planet and what they can do to help will make a change on how the future will turn out.

I hope in the future we are able to take advantage of the resources that we have. Right now in 2018, we have incredible amounts of technology and it will only become more advanced in the future. By then I am hoping we have found ways to help preserve our environment and animals and keep its people healthy.

I wish a safe and clean planet for your future. I hope you are able to do things that we are able to do today. I hope there are still animals that are around today. And lastly, I hope we are able to keep sustainability not only in the environment, but also economically and socially.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Grandchild,

I now feel less overwhelmed and powerless, and I am determined to fight for our planet and your future.

Dear Malasher and Alex,

My goal was to help you grow into better citizens of our planet; to help you care about our natural world and to make everyday choices that reflect concern for our beautiful earth and our own health as well as encourage you to work together to make changes in our community.

To my beloved granddaughters, Margaret and Caroline,

Growing up in Germany, I often wondered what my parents had done to oppose the Nazi regime in the 1930’s that led to WWII.  I was so disappointed when I found out how passive they had been. For me, this was formative.

Dear Seamus and Tuva,

So it’s 2050. If the good people are winning the greater struggle, fossil fuels are a shamefully long chapter of the past, and there has been a full scale awakening to the need for only renewable, clean energy.

Dear Matthew, Sam, and Sophie,

There is a promise in the Bible: ‘I shall restore the years that the locusts have eaten’ and that points to a promise of complete healing and restoration. But until that comes I intend to do my best to ‘save the planet’ in whatever way I can, and I encourage you to do the same.

Dear Tomorrow,

The transformation of human consciousness

To my dear children in the year 2050,

I don’t wish to go backwards, but I do wish we would slow down and design our brave new world with more care.

Dear Tomorrow,

I am so sorry we didn’t realize this predicament sooner.

Dear future family and friends,

This is our house.

Dear Lillyana,

I will continue to work to make the Earth a cleaner and safer place for you to grow and explore.

Dear friends,

We need to rethink our consumption habits in order to reduce the impacts on the environment.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to contact my local officials on passing measures against climate change
