To the dreamers of tomorrow,

Whenever I consider the future of our planet, I cannot imagine the hardships that your generation will bear. Each day, I see the consequences of our collective action affecting the natural rhythms of the world around me. The animals are confused, the people are confused and answers seem hard to come by.

In all of this confusion, it will be easy to blame the adults around you. Your resentment is justified. In many ways, they sold your future for their own fleeting comfort years ago. I understand your anger.

However, I ask you here to check your resentment and not live from a place of hostility toward the previous generations. Instead, I implore you to look within yourself and try to find meaning and fulfillment in the challenges that present themselves to you each day. This can be almost impossibly hard to find among adults who don’t seem to have a clue what is going on. Yet I encourage you to ask questions and trust your own observations.

In an age of confusion, I encourage you to turn to the timeless wisdom of nature. It can be hard to separate yourself from whatever culture in which you live, yet you are part of an ancient lineage that spans millennia. Deeply rooted within you, you have a connection to the world around you that many previous generations have neglected or written off. Trust it. Spend time in nature’s forests, mountains, and oceans. These experiences will teach you things about life beyond your wildest imagination.

Good luck in whatever the future may bring and know there have been others who, like you, dream.
