To my precious children

Today, we had to wash your feet before you could come in the house. The dirt covered your legs and streaked your arms.

This is the childhood you should have. You should not be constantly on the lookout for evidence of pollution. I want your childhood to me marked by peace and beauty as we explore this world together.

I want clean air, clean energy and muddy feet for you. I want this for all children. So for this reason, I continue to work to get others to see that a day in the sun, playing is far more valuable than all the money that could ever be generated by our wasteful consumerism.

For a future like this my heart aches so deeply. For a clean future that brings freckles on your noses and the smell of sunshine in your hair.
