To my grandchildren,

It is the year 2019 and climate change has become a nationwide issue. Many experts say that if we do not take action now and start changing our habits, I could only imagine what the year 2050 will look like. Many individuals are not aware of the effect greenhouse gases have had on the earth’s atmosphere. With the increase in greenhouse gases and changes in albedo, much ice starts to melt and sea-levels begin to increase. I was exposed to a documentary that stated that in the year 2050 part of Florida was going to be under water, due to sea-levels rising.

By the time you read this letter, I hope that is not to late to make changes that we did not make in the year 2019. Some changes consist of using environmental friendly products or even changing eating habits that has a negative effect our environment. This being said, many people are not aware; however, many foods have a carbon footprint. A carbon footprint tracks the amount of C02 based off of anthropogenic activities and agriculture. For instance, it is a known fact that chicken is a healthier option as opposed to beef; however, chicken also emits less Co2 than beef. So your not only making a healthier decision, but also making a difference in climate change.

I am writing this letter to let you know that I have made changes in order to ensure a safe and healthy world for you. I have made changes in my eating habits and I have preserved energy that will hopefully make a difference and save our planet. I also hope that in the year 2050, large corporations that have a negative impact on our environment have chosen to make eco friendly products. It is crucial that more people become aware of this issue in years to come, otherwise who knows if there will even be a future. What ever choices you make, I hope that make them while thinking of the future your grandchildren will have.
