To my future self,

As of right now, it is the year 2020 and the climate is very irregular and inconsistent. It seems to be only going downhill from here. Global warming, forest fires and rising CO2 levels are all very present and relevant in today’s world. All climate impacts reflect on each other one way or another. By doing our part as people of the world, we can flip the long-term effects around and change the world for the better. If we do not divert course immediately, our world and environment will be much worse than it is right now. I vow to do my part and turn this around before it’s too late. I expect everyone to contribute also. Hopefully things are better in the year 2050.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise when I start my baking franchise, I will reduce pollution made by it as much as physically possible.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use a water bottle.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

Fe,

As one push of a button can set a spinner in motion, so too can the actions of one in creating a world that allows you to thrive, to giggle, to love.

Dear World,

I vow that I will try to make a difference every day, so that you may enjoy the world as I have.

Dear future me,

I’m doing this work because I see it as the best way to save and improve as many lives as possible. I’m doing it so you, 2050 Ryan, can look at yourself in the mirror. And so you can tell your kids and grandkids someday that you did everything you could.

Dear Future,

“I knew you would want to know how the future turned out. You got so anxious about climate change as we grew older.Ā  By coming back, I thought I could help you with that.ā€

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will bring permaculture designs to my community.

Dear Grandchild,

I now feel less overwhelmed and powerless, and I am determined to fight for our planet and your future.

Dear Kai and Leah,

I want you to feel awestruck like I do. It is important to feel small sometimes, to feel the weight of reality, to recognize the scale of a challenge, to see where you fit and what you are up against. This is the case with climate change.

Hey Kiddos!

My hope for you is that all our legislative efforts and care for the environment makes a difference so that we can wipe asthma out of our family.

Dear friends,

Rather than exploit it, destroy it, poison it, why don’t we just enhance the beauty of it, guard it, and love it?
