To my children,

The current date is November 20, 2020. The state of the earth that I am currently living in is concerning in many ways. There have been many forest fires in the past couple of months that have been affecting the air quality, ice is melting due to an increase in temperature resulting in higher levels of water, and deforestation is at an all-time high. I am concerned about the future because if we continue to live the way we have been living I am afraid that there will no longer be earth to live in. A change must happen if we want to change things around and make a positive impact on the earth. Climate change is real and has been observed for the longest time but it is hard to address the topic when the current president Donald Trump does not believe in it. The fight against climate change will be a hard one but won’t be impossible if people want to make a difference. Things I can do to make the world a better place is convincing my family to invest in solar panels, converting lightbulbs to LED’s, recycle things around the house(plastic/clothes), and limit the use of electricity. There is a lot more that could be done to save the earth and people need to play their part if they want to improve climate change.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to buy organic food and run more and bike more! (I could use the exercise.)

Dear friends,

We need to rethink our consumption habits in order to reduce the impacts on the environment.

Dear Great Grandchildren,

If you are reading this, you probably inherited my fascination with ancestry, and the way it uncovers incredible stories of unlikely survival.

Dear Daughter,

Even when contemplating huge global-historical issues — especially then — it’s important to stay grounded in the present time and place, the specific here and now, and the minute affairs of everyday interpersonal relations.

Rachel and Noelle,

I hope in a small way this helps your world.

To my Kids,

I wish you all the best and always make sure that you can be proud of yourself and don’t need status-symbols for feeling nice.

Dear Lincoln,

I wanted to let you know that in 2019 that there were real struggles with the health of our planet.

Dear Tomorrow,

I haven’t met you yet, but I already know you deserve a better tomorrow.

Dear Future Me,

I hope that when we look back on these years,  you’ll see that humanity can be good. That we joined together and fixed it because of we don’t, who will?

To you, my dear!

In 2050, I will still be fighting against climate change. I feel that it’s not only my duty, but rather my destiny.

To my future children,

I am doing everything I can because I want the footprint that I leave behind to be my feet in the sand on a beach and not a carbon one.

Dear My Future Child,

I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander.
