This moment in Paris

Looking back on this moment in Paris, you will see governments beginning to seriously stir, corporations beginning to squirm, and citizens beginning to cry out: you are still committing future generations to unimaginable calamity.

Paris may be the beginning of something useful, finally. Time will tell. You can judge. What we know now is that the commitments governments are making at Paris will get the planet less than halfway to the goal of staying below 2 C degrees of global average warming and that that goal is too weak from the outset.

Here is something else you should not forget. We as a society knew enough to begin to act to forestall climate change as early as the late 1970s. And many of us were calling for action way back them. One reason for the inaction was a corporate, primarily fossil fuel industry, disinformation campaign, for which some should now be prosecuted.

Whether they participated in the disinformation campaign or not, the fossil producers should be held financially liable for the damages and clean-up costs of their fossil pollution of the atmosphere just as they have to pay for oil spills.

Please know that many of us tried for decades to force action, and we are tearful for our poor results and the burdens we have left you.

Please know also that many are culpable for your situation and should be held accountable.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Grandchildren,

I hope we can pass on a better place to live so that my grandchildren and their future children can enjoy the beauty of nature that our wonderful God has given us.

Olá minhas Florzinhas!!!

Minhas florzinhas é isso…. vamos a batalha , procurar se informar sobre empresas que são amigas do meio ambiente, tentar banir as empresas que poluem nosso ar, nossos rios.

To my daughter,

The climate is quite dynamic these days. Dhaka has dust and warm in this spring.

To My Daughter and Future Grandchildren,

There are so many more things that we can do together to help our Earth from the damage that has been done, and I am so excited to teach you.

Dear Tom and Leena,

I want you to only see the beauty in this world; there is so much of it and I will protect this beauty for as long as I am here on this Earth.

Dear humankind of today and tomorrow,

I do wish to contribute as much as I can, maybe even start a ripple effect, where other people will start taking action too and inspire other people too.

Dear Rowan & Tristan,

I promise to do everything I can as a daughter to our great Mother Earth to protect her wildlife and trees.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to stop eating beef.

Dear Future Self,

I am scared of the things happening right now with our planet.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will do my part to help ensure that there is an Earth left when we are done borrowing it.

dear future children,

As I write this, our world is slowly giving way to climate change.

To My Children and My Future Grandchildren,

People are an amazing race and, if we have the will, I believe we have the ingenuity and resources to fix the harm we’ve done.
