Dear June and Colin,

It is 2022. The last couple years have been exceptionally difficult and revealing about the present threat of climate change. I’m sad and angry that collectively more has not been done to this date. And that still with such dire warnings, obvious impacts, those in power are acting far too slowly.

You two are what give me the courage to move forward and give everything that I can to fight for your futures. I promise to keep working with others who are fighting for climate justice, to keep engaging with political leaders to act for you, and all children who deserve a better future. Yes, I promise to keep doing what we can as a family to live with an eco conscience and low carbon footprint… but I know that’s just not enough when the issues are systemic and political.

More Messages to the Future

Dear future generations,

It’s never too late to make a difference. Our actions have very real consequences. We can educate ourselves, learn from our mistakes, and take action. We can hold companies like big oil and big plastic accountable for their negative impacts on the environment. We can educate ourselves and others about what causes climate change and what actions we as individuals can take to lower our carbon footprints.

Dear Tomorrow,

Be the person who shows up. Be the person who continues to advocate for change because change is possible – it is possible in the most partisan of politics.

I promise to help people! Become more aware!

To older Rochelle,

You should’ve reduced your carbon footprint, should be using some source of renewable energy and be a vegetarian by now.

Dear Eleanor,

It seems silly to saddle yourself with guilt for something that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want to do that. As of today, I don’t really feel guilty. I guess I just want to make sure I keep doing more, so that when you read this, and ask what I’ve done since then, I can still feel good about my efforts.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to ask five of my friends to plant trees.

Pour ma famille,

Il faut trouver le 7ème sens et se battre pour des causes justes, comme l´amour et la liberté.

dear tomorrow,

I hope that the state of the environment becomes a part of everyday discourse.

For my most dear and only daughter,

And I know life more fully because of you whom I live on through.

Dear Corey,

I promise to do all within my power to create a world that’s safe for you and your generation.

Queridos filhos Heloísa e Henzo,

Tenho muito orgulho da minha função (agente de fiscalização ambiental do Acre) pois é através dela que posso dar um pouco do meu suor, para que no futuro ambos possam ter um lugar melhor para viver.

To my dear son Zac,

I promise to raise you as a loving-nature human.
