Hi Griffin, Grampa here:

During my lifetime, people as a whole, first didn’t notice, or didn’t care that the ways we were getting and using energy were starting to cause trouble. Waste, inefficiency, and toxicity were passed off as either negligible, or inconsequential. Nowadays, we’re seeing the results of that belief. It’s apparent that those ideas were completely ignorant of the facts, and now most people realize it. Those who do not, are either blinded to the facts, or live in a small tribal village in Africa somewhere.

During my lifetime I have worked to show that alternative energy is both possible, and that there are many ways to obtain needed energy which would be sustainable. My hope is, that by the time you read this, others have done the same, and that there’s a way to store or use all that carbon we generate today.

My hope is, that by the time you’d get to see this, most of that is figured out, and isn’t any more than an insignificant, negligible, inconsequential problem, as we once thought it to be.

Love,
Grampa

Dear future love,

A culture of consumption is the reason that my world faces such an ecological crisis, it is both necessary and proper to address the fundamental mindsets that have created such a destructive culture.

Dear Future Self,

It was 2020, the year I realized that life is fragile—not just mine, but the entire planet—through immense consumption, pollution, greediness, ignorance, false bliss. This wasn’t the way I wanted to live my life, so I promise to actively make the change.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to live a car-free lifestyle.
