Hi future Christine,

I am currently writing this letter on April 20th, 2018. You are almost done with school (yay!), but you still need to learn a lot of things about the world we live in. Because you are done studying and writing papers, it is time to put you focus on something else, like saving our planet earth. Hopefully you learned something in your climate change class. Your professor talked about temperature, albedo, sea levels, etc. over and over again, so I hope that she instilled something in you that will make you act and change for the better. Because at this moment, the world that we live in is not getting better.

The weather has been crazy these past few weeks. It is supposed to be spring season right now, but it still feel like we were in winter season. And now news said that temperature will go up next week. It is disheartening to hear that people think climate change is a hoax, especially the elected officials. A lot of people are still denying that climate change exists. I don’t know why people still believe that climate change is not true, even though there are facts and studies about them. The sea ice is decreasing and melting, and the sea levels are rising. Scientists even say that we may experience above-normal temperatures this summer. So brace yourself with more hot summers or cold winters unless we do something about it. We are the ones who are causing problems, so technically we are the ones who should fix it.

I hope by the time you are reading this, most people believe that climate change is real. I just hope that we are trying to fix the problem we made. I hope that you still enjoy winter season because I know that you love cold weather. But go out more often and appreciate the nature and your surroundings. Take a hike once in a while (even if you don’t want to), so you can see the beauty of planet earth. I also hope that you are doing something that can help our planet because I know what you are capable of especially if you put your mind and heart into it. Be more positive and hopeful that our planet will somehow become better again. Just take care of our planet for the next generation. But do not forget to take care of yourself.

I promise that I will start taking care our planet at home. I will conserve more energy, and change some of my lifestyles that hurt our environment. I know it will be hard because I love eating beef, but I will try to reduce my beef consumption to twice or thrice a month. And do not eat too much processed food. I also promise that I will talk about it more with my peers, so they will learn and understand what climate change is.
