Dear Tomorrow’s Generation,

Every single time I walk into my house I am greeted with a “love is patient, love is hopeful, love is kind” poster. The concept of love is one we all experience in our lives, and while we’re good at receiving how good are we at giving it? Giving it especially to what has provided us with the most resources, views, and fun…the earth. My hope for the future is that we will love the earth like we love others. While a simple concept, it’s not one that in my generation I have seen.

Love is Patient…how patient? How much more can we continue to show the earth no love and damage it in ways that are irreversible? The earth had provided us with everything we need and more. We rely on it heavily, yet don’t return the favor for what it has done for us. There is not us without the earth, a concept that might be hard to grasp but it’s time to act and make permanent changes. Our time will run out if we continue the way that we are doing.

Love is kind…look around and notice that everything we have the earth has paid its price. It’s a resource that keeps on giving, but one day it will run out. There will a come a time that the earth will not be kind enough to provide us with all that we need. And then what? Loving the earth would mean understanding this and consuming enough for us to survive but more importantly for the earth to survive.

Love is hopeful…there is hope. People through research, knowledge, and conversation have collaborated demanded change. Change has been made, but not enough. I want to imagine a world where everyone cares and has hope and uses these two as determination to make real changes that will drive the earth to a good direction. A lot of change has been done, but more can be done and this is the mindset I hope future generations will share.
