Dear sweet wonderful grandchildren,

Hi sweeties, I am writing this to you on April 28th, 2017. Right now you are a speck of stardust dancing in the universe and a dream in your parents’ hearts. I hope that I am able to be present when you decide to join our family and that I have time to watch you grow and learn and discover this magical place we call Earth. It is full of awe and wonder and majesty but it is in a very fragile state right now. Today, as we grapple with the realities of climate change, we find ourselves on the edge of saving or destroying it, but I am working hard to ensure that when you arrive, you will find a healthy, thriving, and lovely planet to explore and enjoy. I hope that I have the chance to hold your hands and walk with you in Adirondack forests, along rocky and sandy beaches, through clear cold streams, and flower filled meadows. We will look for salamanders, find birds, investigate plants, and immerse ourselves in the glories of nature where ever we find them. I know that your parents wish all of this for you too and I know they will be your guides and companions on many adventures. Know that you are loved beyond measure and that all of us are doing everything we can to leave you a beautiful healthy planet!
