Dear Sinchi,

Hi beautiful. How have you been doing? Did you finish high school? Pass? Get into your wanted uni? Are you a journalist now? A teacher? Are you perhaps a doctor? (Haha you and I both know that isn’t happening).

I hope you’ve been doing well. I am writing this to you or to me, to us to talk to you about something I want you to do. The world is changing and it is happening fast. I am sure that by the time you read this, there’ll be a lot less nature and a lot more scary tall buildings. I want you to understand how significant one person’s actions can have on the environment. Seriously, donate, adopt an animal, go on a trip and help out somewhere in the world. I genuinely hope you are doing ok. In the midst of everything that is happening in the world, it is so important for you to maintain yourself and continue being the strangely intriguing person you are. I want you to remember the parts of life that matter the most. Aside from family and friends, there is the whole earth you are living on right now, and changes need to happen. We both know that politics isn’t our area of expertise, but I urge you to speak yourself. I want you to do one of the things I told you, the more the better. Remember how we used to go and play at the park, or freak out yet have the best time at Somersby Waterfalls? Don’t let technology and its advancements make you forget parts of life that have shaped the person you are today.

Hey Sinchi, You nice. Keep going.

P.S. If you are a journalist, have you done ANYTHING about BTS? Do you still love them? Please tell me you do? Have you travelled to places? Bora Bora?

xx Probably the better version of you 🙂

More Messages to the Future

To my fellow adventurers,

Don’t stop looking for adventures.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to ask five of my friends to plant trees.

Dear Leo,

Last week I took you to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Dear Zhengqing Gao,

Fortunately, you didn’t get injured while the wildfire burned your school.

Dear future generations,

Past generations took all the trees, polluted all the water, fished all the fish, and hunted all the animals so that there’s almost nothing nice left.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to turn old shirts into produce bags.

To my sons,

I’m voting with climate change as a top priority. I’ve tried to teach you boys that we need to clean up after ourselves and take care of the earth. I promise to continue doing these actions and more, for your sake.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise when I start my baking franchise, I will reduce pollution made by it as much as physically possible.

Dear Gabriel,

One day ten or twenty years from now, when you look back from the future, you will be able to clearly see the entire path.

Dear Kids,

My mistake was thinking I needed to give you more to be a good Mom. Recently your aunt asked me what my favorite toy was growing up. I gulped, I didn’t have one- it was the outdoors, sliding down a ravine of leaves with my Dad, skiing and camping. Today is October 12th, 2021 and I am still going to be giving you a lot, it’s going to look a little different – love, experiences, education and a healthy planet.

I promise to help people! Become more aware!

Dear me,

Remember how passionate you felt at 20, I hope you keep that passion in you and are still working on climate 30 years from now.
