Dear people of the future who read this,

Hello. I’m just a regular girl from the Netherlands who wants to make the world a better place for my children and grandchildren and their children, etc. I want world peace and a safe planet for everyone. I hope that when this letter will be read in the future a lot has changed in a good way. That all kids can go to school and no one has to live in fear. Also, that we don’t have to worry about climate change.

So dear people in the future. I hope that this goal will be achieved or at least almost.

I want you to feel awestruck like I do. It is important to feel small sometimes, to feel the weight of reality, to recognize the scale of a challenge, to see where you fit and what you are up against. This is the case with climate change.

Dear Maddie,

Please know that I have tried very hard to be one of those people, to even make the smallest of changes in order to improve the world for you and your future.

I promise to ditch all the natural gas and go all electric with my home!

I will promise to help climate change as much as I can.

Be the person who shows up. Be the person who continues to advocate for change because change is possible – it is possible in the most partisan of politics.
