Dear Parks,

You’re only 15 months old and already I fear for the world you’ll know. I’ve been doing my best over the past few years to lessen my impact on the planet, but I know there’s more that I can do to give you a better future. I promise to talk to more people, to take more initiatives, to FOCUS on how serious this problem is instead of believing people with more power will make changes. Because they haven’t and they aren’t. They have other priorities (the wrong ones, in my opinion) and I need to do more. I love you so much and hope that the world you live in at my age is BETTER than the one I live in now.

More Messages to the Future

Dear future Michelle,

As consumers, it is our duty to protest and force companies to be greener and avoid environmental damage, whether they are from the food industry or from any other production industry. It’s about time we start thinking greener.

I love you Earth.

Dear Kai and Leah,

I want you to feel awestruck like I do. It is important to feel small sometimes, to feel the weight of reality, to recognize the scale of a challenge, to see where you fit and what you are up against. This is the case with climate change.

Dear Kids,

I know it’s long past time to wake up. You deserve a future in which drought, famine, and war are not all your children ever know; the choices my generation makes now will determine your future.

Dear Lucie,

Lucie, I love you more than you could ever know and I hope that my promises help contribute to a better world for you and inspire you to take action as well as you grow into the amazing adult I know you will be.

Dear Tara,

I am sitting in a classroom thinking about you. Which is rare for me. I hope that our family has taken some initiative to do something about changing society instead of building robots and large houses.

Dear Brady,

I will work everyday to combat climate change for your today, for your tomorrow!

Dear Son,

I hope with effective action to combat this climate change will we have a better world in the future.

Dear Spike, Loulou and Yoshua,

I’m going to start a campaign to try to convince everybody in the Netherlands to not eat meat one day a week.

Dear tomorrow,

The blue sky will no longer be grey, and the bleak clouds will be vibrant.

Dear Tomorrow,

And, if this summer has taught me anything, I am content (because I have to be) living in this limbo, this seemingly endless waiting for the opportunity to change, when really the opportunity exists within our very selves all along.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use a water bottle.
