Dear Nephew/Niece,

I hope this letter finds its way to you.

I am writing to tell of what we have in this world, and I wish that it stays the same way. But looking at the pace with which the world have been changing, I fear that my wish is not enough to help it stay the same.

Right now, its April 20, 2018, I am in San Jose, California. The air is fresh to breathe and sky clear enough to daze for long at night. There are lots of species of animals, and Elephants and Giraffe are not endangered yet. We have many different species of birds that travel according to different seasons. Currently there is almost enough resources to keep the world running and provide decent electricity and ways to cook and live, but I think it will soon be over.

One of my biggest concerns are the glaciers, I really hope you can see them. They are huge chunk of snow that have been accumulated for hundreds of years. They provide constant cooling to our planet, but if they are not there anymore, I am sorry for not able to change that. I believe it is extreme hot climate.

If the things have continued the way it is currently, I am sorry for the hardships that you are facing. But I really hope it changes for the good.

I wish you a very happy future. And I wish that you can enjoy the environment and its beauty the way I did.

Your Uncle

More Messages to the Future

Dear Spike, Loulou and Yoshua,

I’m going to start a campaign to try to convince everybody in the Netherlands to not eat meat one day a week.

I love you Earth.

Dear Tomorrow,

Awareness is key. Learning about this issue can seem like a small effort compared to other actions, but it’s the most important.

Dear Generations to Be,

If we could all slow down, look around and connect: with each other, the Earth, the sky, the plants and rocks and animals, then maybe we can all remember to treat everyone and everything with respect and live in love.

Dear Kids of the Future,

My wish for all of you is that the people of the present wake up and are able to change their habits.

Dear Future Self,

It was 2020, the year I realized that life is fragile—not just mine, but the entire planet—through immense consumption, pollution, greediness, ignorance, false bliss. This wasn’t the way I wanted to live my life, so I promise to actively make the change.

Olá minhas Florzinhas!!!

Minhas florzinhas é isso…. vamos a batalha , procurar se informar sobre empresas que são amigas do meio ambiente, tentar banir as empresas que poluem nosso ar, nossos rios.

Dear little one,

In the coming months, we plan to complete a full assessment of our environmental impact online. We hope to discover our biggest areas of resource consumption, learn what we can do better, and create an action plan to improve over the next year.

dear future children,

As I write this, our world is slowly giving way to climate change.

Dear Ezmae,

As I write this, I consider giving up as it sometimes seems that all is lost. But then I think of you.

To my dearest Gabriel,

What gives me hope is what is yet to come, what you will experience in your lifetime.

My dear granddaughter Christy,

My own curiosity and knowing what a caring, aware young woman you are help me override despair.
