Dear my future children,

It is hard to write this knowing that the world is a completely different place from what it was when I was growing up. Spending all my time outside playing barefoot on the grass and ocean sand, it was the feeling of being free and invincible in the world. The water of the ocean was so blue and the beaches were as clean as they could be. You could see to the bottom of the ocean and watch your feet melt into the sand. You could smell the scent of the grass and flowers in your backyard and plant a tree and be able to watch it grow.

It saddens me that the world is probably polluted in 2050 and that the air does not have the rich smell it did when I was growing up in the early 2000s. It saddens me that you won’t be able to drive with your windows down and enjoy the cool breeze on summer days. It saddens me that animals that once lived on earth will be extinct by the time you’re reading this. It saddens me that we are the ones to blame because we did not try to help the environment and all of the components that go into keeping this earth healthy and safe.

More Messages to the Future

My future husband,

I want us to read this in future time and remember all the senses and views we witnessed.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise my next vehicle will be an EV.

Queridas crianças do mundo inteiro,

Pedimos que vocês procurem fazer como nós e continuem essa luta de colaborar com nosso planeta: evitando o consumo exagerado, usando a tecnologia para o bem, plantando árvores, economizando água e poluindo menos.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to pick up trash at every beach I visit 🙂 and to bike for local errands.

Dear Jamie and Jason,

My inspiration was the two of you. It started with thinking about the world you were inheriting and what your future was going to be like. But then you taught me how important it is to listen to you – to listen to young people.

Querida Tainah,

Quero que você beba água pura, coma alimentos sem agrotóxicos e que sua casinha branca com varanda, seja voltada para o leste, onde o sol vai nascer.

Dear Children,

I wish I had a crystal ball and could peep into it to see you all happy and safe in a world that nourishes you and that is also nourished by you, a world where the resources it provides are as valued as the people in it and not frittered away by greed and power.

Dear Eleanor,

Dear Tomorrow,

The only way to survive it, even if you don’t feel like you’re winning, is to keep your hands on the rope.

Dear My Future Child,

I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander.

Dear Future Me,

I hope that when we look back on these years,  you’ll see that humanity can be good. That we joined together and fixed it because of we don’t, who will?

Cari nipoti,

Siamo nel 2017 e vi assicuro che sto facendo tutto il possibile per rendere questo pianeta un posto migliore.
