I promise you, I am going to do everything I can to save this planet for you. I won’t let you down, I swear.

Dear my future child,

I have always wanted to go up to the Norwegian Fjords since I was in 6th grade. It’s a very beautiful place filled with exquisite valleys and lush boreal forests. Norway is truly a magical place that hopefully, by the time you are reading this letter I will have gone to.

Right now in 2018 climate change is a hot topic. We are already seeing the effects, poles are melting, the weather is getting more and more unpredictable. The land is getting filled up with trash from landfills and it seems like the whole world is polluted.

However, this is why I am currently working hard to earn my degree in Environmental studies. I hope that by earning this degree, I can help reverse these effects so that you still have magical places like the Norwegian Fjords to dream about.

I promise you, I am going to do everything I can to save this planet for you. I won’t let you down, I swear.

Love, your future mom

More Messages to the Future

Dear future me,

My hopes have always been to live in a brighter and better generation, where women are respected around the world, human rights are respected and last but not least where animals and mother nature is cared for by us individuals.

Dear future me,

If we don’t stop cutting down trees for agriculture and to build houses then the future generations will not think about trees when they hear the word Earth.

Dear Grown up Alton and Dot,

The most important thing in my life is you, which means that as your mom – I am doing my very best to make sure that when you read this letter, Earth is a cleaner and safer place for you and your children.

I won’t leave my lights on.

Anya,

All you can do is your best. You can encourage the same in others. You can admit your mistakes and those of your ancestors. You can learn from them, and help however you can. I’ll do the same. I promise.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to clean the earth.

Dear kids of America,

Please eliminate plastic everything

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will bring permaculture designs to my community.

Dear Tomorrow,

My promise is to continue to dedicate my life, my business, and my future to creating cultures that embrace environmental action not only for our own good, but the good of the countless other species hurting from climate change.

Dear Devon and Chloe

I hope that my work helping to make your schools more sustainable will be something you carry on as you grow older.

Dear Finley,

I wonder if in 2050 we will be looking at a future where fear from the changes at hand has caused people to hate rather than love and provide hope. Perhaps in that world we will we no longer comprehend the biblical texts in a meaningful way. Will climate change be the end of the epoch of God?

My Mini & Lou,

Since I first sat down with these words, a pandemic has erupted. Racial violence is reaching a fever pitch and protests are raging across the nation. It feels like the planet is succumbing to entropy, slipping further into chaos. But I write to you from a time of shifting tides.
