Dear Mother Nature,

I love you. I want to remain a child at heart and enjoy laying in your golden fields. I want to cherish when the ice turns concrete into a billion little crystals. I want to watch the sunset and sunrise with a cup of coffee. I know I’m young. Only 18 but I have lived 18 years in love of everything you offer. You offer sunshine and rain, snow, immense beauty and desertion.

For as long as I can remember you have acted like a friend to me. I could tell you what was in my heart and over time we would watch each other grow and evolve. It seems you are going through a rough time right now. I’m sorry. I know I could’ve done better and cared about you just a little bit more. It saddens me that the world is in this state.

I hope in time. Soon. Everyone will see how amazing you are and be influenced to treat you right. You deserve better. I hope that we all take the extra step to make some changes, no matter how small they are. It will at least mean we see and we care.

I know I haven’t done the most or tried my hardest, but I promised myself long ago I would enjoy the simple things in life. And I promise that even though I might not be able to every day I will try to thank you for being here for me. I will try to take out red meat from my diet again. I promise to use more natural products and be careful in what I use and do and how it might affect you. I don´t want to lose you and I promise to care and love you forever.

More Messages to the Future

To my children,

If there is one thing that I taught you it is to be honest in your decisions as they pertain to yourselves and the earth in which you live.

Dear Chay and Kate,

Don’t ever let anyone tell you your actions don’t matter. Every single thing you do matters. You matter.

Dear Ryan,

I hope that you start doing things that will help the world.

Dear Future,

I hope that things have cooled down. I hope that people and governments have come together to save our earth. I hope that everyone is able to breath clean air, drink clean water and see the beauty in nature that I do. I promise to do my best to take part in repairing the damage we’ve done so that my hopes may come true.

Dear Earth,

I will keep the air clean so everyone can see the sunset.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to not waste food and eat locally grown food.

Dearest Gray,

When I asked you why the purple Violet called to you, you told me it was “magic”. I hope that you can still find the magic of life. I hope, despite everything, it is still in abundance.

Dear Tomorrow,

I will do my part to help ensure that there is an Earth left when we are done borrowing it.

Dear future self,

I am writing this to keep myself accountable and push myself towards taking action towards a sustainable future. I hope children of the future can still appreciate the wonders that nature and all its beings have to offer, appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

Dear Madeline, Ava, and Harper,

What I wish most for you girls is that the care you have shown each other would extend to the big wide world around you.

Dear World,

I vow that I will try to make a difference every day, so that you may enjoy the world as I have.

To you, my dear!

In 2050, I will still be fighting against climate change. I feel that it’s not only my duty, but rather my destiny.
