Dear Me,

I’m trying to reflect onto the future, but naturally the light is too slow, and illumination eludes me. No one can see what is through the dark door that is the future, we can only pick the threshold through which we seem to strut so confident. If you ask why people had their heads in the sand, know that obliviousness can be bliss. If you ask why there was so much inertia regarding so many issues, know that effort causes uncertainty. If you ask why we didn’t do more, know that it is hard to look at the past from the future, but that is what we must do now to create the change we want, that we need.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow

I will become the change I wish to see in the world.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use a water bottle.

Dear Hailey and Lily,

We know about this. If we don’t fix this for you, it’s our fault.

Dear future Michelle,

As consumers, it is our duty to protest and force companies to be greener and avoid environmental damage, whether they are from the food industry or from any other production industry. It’s about time we start thinking greener.

Dear Future Explorers,

I am often faced with the question: why do I care so much about this pale blue dot that we inhabit?

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate promise is to reduce electricity at home. I will turn off the TV and lights when I’m not in the room.

Dear me,

Remember how passionate you felt at 20, I hope you keep that passion in you and are still working on climate 30 years from now.

Hey kiddo,

I’ll be here to tell you all the ways I have fought for the health of our home, and fought to protect all of the wide, open spaces for you to run in. When you’re old enough, we can fight together.

Dear Tomorrow,

We want to let others know about how to fight climate crisis.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Dear Rosie,

But when you are reading this years from now, by the light of a solar powered lamp, know that your dad, mom and millions of others who burned brightly with love for our kids did what we could, when we knew the stakes.

Dear Tomorrow,

My promise is to continue to dedicate my life, my business, and my future to creating cultures that embrace environmental action not only for our own good, but the good of the countless other species hurting from climate change.
