Dear Mark,

Many, many years ago I was an avid smoker; at least 2 packs a day. I was always diligent in NOT throwing the butts on the ground. Walking around my neighborhood I see the ground littered with cigarette butts. Where do they go? Washed down the street drains, eventually ending in the waterways/ocean. They are not biodegradable but are harmful to the Ecosystem. Please, please dispose of the butts or carry a personal ashtray; a zippered pouch that can eventually be emptied into an appropriate receptical.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Eleanor,

It seems silly to saddle yourself with guilt for something that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want to do that. As of today, I don’t really feel guilty. I guess I just want to make sure I keep doing more, so that when you read this, and ask what I’ve done since then, I can still feel good about my efforts.

To Annika, Anders, Stella, Eva, and Mickey,

In writing to you, I realize that I don’t want you to be hard on yourself if you choose to not make this your cause. But it is mine, so I hope that you hold me accountable to some of what I wrote here.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to educate myself and others about how we can protect and nourish our 1 PLANET

Dear Ari and Levi,

Luckily, we have figured out ways to build things without making the air dirty, and we are trying very hard to get more people to switch over to this new way as fast as we can.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to reach out to more people to ditch driving and consider using public transportation. I promise to convince Marin markets that sensible policies in density and mixed use planning will further enhance everyone’s quality of life.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to include the trees and animals in all my decisions.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate action is to educate youth to create solutions for energy efficiency and conservation opportunities.

Dear Me of Tomorrow,

I plan to plant more things this spring, as we do every year in our garden.

Dear Future Kids Like Me,

What I hope for future kids like me is that they continue to ride the groundswell of climate change support all the way into action.
