Dear kids,

This is your dad, Mark, writing to you so that you may know how much the world has changed in the past 30 years. Back in my day, we had these incredible ice blocks called glaciers, which would stand hundreds of feet tall and be a true marvel of the world as we know it. Sadly, you kids won’t be able to see one because of how bad global warming will become. You see kids, centuries before I was born, there was a huge turning point in America called the Industrial Revolution, where Americans began to modernize new manufacturing processes to sell goods more effectively. As a result, this started the drive for more products, which needed more factories to be running. Unfortunately, these factories relied on the burning of fossil fuels such as coal was very bad and began to release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. We have continued to burn fossil fuels even to this day, and it needs to stop! The problem with these greenhouse gases is that it will eventually heat the Earth to an uncomfortable amount, causing ice caps, glaciers, and much more to melt! Sooner or later, the world that you guys live in will be flooded, chaos will unfold, and mankind will be in danger of losing everything due to natural calamity.

However, this inevitable truth can be stopped with your help. This may not sound like a lot, but trust me, kids, the more you do, the less you will suffer. If your kids can start reusing, reducing, and recycling everything you buy, it will do wonders and inspire others to do the same. Such a simple task cannot only save you money but also provide a great amount of help to the environment. Lots of material we make in the US is not very biodegradable or easily broken down. Therefore, landfills of waste are being tossed around with “junk” that we as Americans feel so spoiled to keep. If there’s anything this letter will teach you, it’s to be grateful for everything you have in life and don’t take things for granted. Since the time I wrote this letter, climate change has been a global issue we have been searching to solve. Therefore, it requires everyone’s help to make a significant impact in this world.

The time to act is now kids! Don’t wait for your dad to become “grandpa” until you take action. The choice is yours, do you want to live in a world where we are surrounded by endless waste toxic air, and even more trash and precautions are taken than you kids have this day and age? Or do you want to live in a serene world without the chaos of wondering if my next meal is safe to eat because of the excessive pollution we are causing in our atmosphere. Please spread the word! Tell your friends, post it on the next social media (is Instagram what you kids still use today? Gosh I feel old!). Together with your help, we can save the planet, one bottle at a time!

Lots of Love,

Dad
