Dear Jackson,

You are the light of my life. We waited so long for you and the day you were born was the most incredible day of my life. The second I held you, everything changed. I immediately sensed your calm and sweet spirit. You are, and will always be, our little miracle boy.

As most parents do, I want the very best for you. I want you to be happy and to lead a meaningful life. I feel deeply that it is my moral obligation as your Mom to protect your future and allow you to inherit a clean and healthy planet. I believe all children have this right and that is why I am working with Moms Clean Air Force to address issues of climate change.

When you were born, I was working on issues of poverty and equality at a local non-profit. While those issues remain close to my heart, there was a noticeable and life-changing shift in my perspective when I became your Mom. The more I learned about the devastating impacts of climate change, the more upset I became. But even with all of the catastrophic predictions, I remain hopeful because we still have the power and ability to lessen the impacts of climate change. As I write this letter, there is so much more work to be done. I will continue to work for you and for all the other little miracles entering the world every second.

All my love,
Mommy

More Messages to the Future

Dear Future Me,

I hope that when we look back on these years,  you’ll see that humanity can be good. That we joined together and fixed it because of we don’t, who will?

My darlings, Juno & Vaeda,

You ask insightful questions, and together we learn about the mysterious world we inhabit.

Dear Grandchildren — August and any others who were born after him

I joined millions of other people who wrote letters and made calls urging our leaders to do more to care for the planet.

Dear Nephew,

I am going to start doing better to have a healthier planet for you to live on.

To my daughter and son,

Surrounded by scientists who shared my fears and visions, I often had a hard time to accept that outside our small community climate change received marginal attention.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

Dear Jack,

Right now you are only a little over 5 weeks old, but you have truly changed my whole world. Your Mom and I always say that we thought we loved before you were born, but now that you have come into the world and we met you, our ability to love just expanded exponentially.

Dear friend,

I will fight for this cause and I will never ever give up because we, the youngsters, are the hope.

To my precious grandchildren, Emma, Maya, Maddie and Will,

With love and a great hope for the future, a future that will be healthy and sustainable for you, my precious grandchildren.

To My Children,

Is the world really polluted?

Dear Tomorrow,

I will do my part to help ensure that there is an Earth left when we are done borrowing it.

Dear Maret,

Right now I want to be hopeful. Right now I want to think that we took action to ensure this beautiful future for you.
