Dear grandchild,

There is a place on this planet called the Amazon, and I don’t mean the online shopping site (is that still a thing in your time?). It’s the world’s largest rainforest, a living miracle that is teeming with life. It is vast, mysterious and wondrous… and it is threatened. I have never been there, though I breathe its air every day. That’s because the Amazon is a key piece of regulating the world’s weather patterns, or at least it was in my day. I hope it is in yours as well.

I wonder if in 2050 we will be looking at a future where fear from the changes at hand has caused people to hate rather than love and provide hope. Perhaps in that world we will we no longer comprehend the biblical texts in a meaningful way. Will climate change be the end of the epoch of God?
