Dear future relatives,

I am currently writing this letter in the year 2020. There are still people who don’t believe in global warming. Some who do believe in it unfortunately think that not being environmentally concerned is a form of freedom that they deserve. Many people have little regard for the treatment of the earth and how that will affect every living thing in the future. I hope that in the future that legislation and new technology has made it more possible to preserve our earth for those in your future. I predict that it will get to a very low point where everyone will have no option but to take climate change seriously. I hope that one day politics and economics are not restrictors to the health of the earth, because if that is the case then the earth won’t be that wonderful decades to come. I really hope that in the future, greenhouse gas emissions are lowered and deforestation is significantly decreased (creating more trees than destroyed), and I also hope that people are more environmentally aware. I think that things will get worse before they get better, but I really do hope that one day humanity can make up for its destruction.  Good luck.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Lincoln,

I wanted to let you know that in 2019 that there were real struggles with the health of our planet.

Dear Tomorrow and Dearest Lex,

I do believe that the collective power of everyone’s best efforts can curb the worst effects of climate change, and provide you with a more stable and secure future.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to not waste food and eat locally grown food.

Dear Future Me,

I promise that I will change my behavior to benefit our trees.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to buy organic food and run more and bike more! (I could use the exercise.)

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise when I start my baking franchise, I will reduce pollution made by it as much as physically possible.

To My Friends, Family and Future Grandchildren,

I realize my reflection of the past, current and future state of the environment paints a grim and pessimistic picture, but I feel optimistic in our ability to turn planet Earth’s fate around if we all work together and commit to making a change.

To my precious grandchildren, Emma, Maya, Maddie and Will,

With love and a great hope for the future, a future that will be healthy and sustainable for you, my precious grandchildren.

Dear Future Me: Only open after March 4th, 2050

I don’t regret my past ventures, nor do I believe I will regret my future ventures, but I’ve learned that I’ve needed to manifest these experiences into actions of sustainable development and conservation and protection of our environment.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to be creative – make art!

to my dearest children,

Our future is being made now, and I promise to do everything in my power to make yours safe.

Dear Gabriel,

When the worst consequences of climate change still feel far away today, or the barriers to acting on climate change seem steep today, I do not think about today. I think about you, and your world when you are my age.
