Dear Future Me,

Today is November 15th, 2018. The air quality is so bad this week that several schools are closed. I hope this is not a problem for you anymore.

Traffic has been bad these days because we have so many cars! I’m worried that car emissions are polluting our environment. I guess in the future we will have all auto-driving electric cars that emit zero carbon emissions. That would be great!

They have been saying that global warming is happening and that we will experience extreme weathers in the future. I hope that is not the case for you. I’ll try my best so that you will not be negatively affected by my actions. I don’t want you to blame me. I will try my best to protect our environment.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to work with my family and neighbors to reduce carbon output.

My grandchildren,

I promise to do my very best to educate your parents as best I can.

Dear Seamus and Tuva,

So it’s 2050. If the good people are winning the greater struggle, fossil fuels are a shamefully long chapter of the past, and there has been a full scale awakening to the need for only renewable, clean energy.

Dear Grandchildren,

So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources.

Queridos amigos sobrevivientes.

Quiero pensar que ustedes serán la diferencia, que tomaran más actos sobre el asunto y no dejaran que nada los detenga.

Dear Tomorrow,

The road I learned to ride my bike on, the field where I kicked my first soccer ball, and the park I ate my first ice cream cone at, could all be gone.

Dear Donatella,

We ran through the woods laughing, crying, and living.

Querida Emanoely,

Gostaria que você se lembrasse das lições simples que mamãe e papai te ensinou, como cuidar das plantas e dos espaços coletivos.

My darling Cassidy,

I know I need to write this to you, and I don’t want to because it makes me so sad. I have been desperately avoiding my feelings about climate change, for many years, but especially and with greater intensity every year since you were born.

To my child,

For the pale blue dot we live on, a precious beauty, I try to help.

Dear Alyssa,

I pray that more and more fathers will realize that to love their children well, they have to love and respect the ecological systems around them too.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to purchase carbon offsets when we fly.
