Dear future me,

I hope that the future is better than the present. I hope that we all learn to coexist and love one another. I hope we can learn to look past our differences and just let each other live the best life we can. I hope we allow ourselves to let go of our fears and just do what makes us happy. I hope that there isn’t as much suffering in the world. I hope that you yourself have learned to be happy and let go of everything that has been holding you back. I hope that the people who are in your life right now are the same ones I refuse to let go. I hope that you have finally decided to following your dreams. I hope you’re good. I hope that there are still polar bears, elephants, tigers, sharks and everything in between and that our children or grandchildren don’t have to learn about them the way we learned about mammoths or dinosaurs. I hope that every type of flower still exists because I know how much you love flowers. I hope that you can still look up at the sky when you go back home and see it full of stars, you always loved that. I hope that we learned to love this world the way it loves us.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Kids,

My mistake was thinking I needed to give you more to be a good Mom. Recently your aunt asked me what my favorite toy was growing up. I gulped, I didn’t have one- it was the outdoors, sliding down a ravine of leaves with my Dad, skiing and camping. Today is October 12th, 2021 and I am still going to be giving you a lot, it’s going to look a little different – love, experiences, education and a healthy planet.

Dear Ellis,

So, dear heart, I am doing everything I can as the situation worsens.

Meus filhos,

Espero que vcs tb encontrem ,de alguma forma,um caminho para colaborarem com Nossa Mãe Terra, bjs eternos.

Hi buddy,

I can now see that the solutions are there, that a transition of the magnitude that is needed, is possible.

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

Querida Tainah,

Quero que você beba água pura, coma alimentos sem agrotóxicos e que sua casinha branca com varanda, seja voltada para o leste, onde o sol vai nascer.

Dear my future child,

I promise you, I am going to do everything I can to save this planet for you. I won’t let you down, I swear.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to only use metal straws and reusable cups.

Dear fantastic,

We as the human race are smarter than this struggle at hand and need to rise above large corporate interests and confusion on this topic.

Dear Erica and Matthew,

I want you to be able to bring your kids to Tahoe and experience the same clarity that you had as a child.

Dear Grandchildren,

I hope we can pass on a better place to live so that my grandchildren and their future children can enjoy the beauty of nature that our wonderful God has given us.

Dear Alanna and Valeria,

I promise you to keep trying, to keep educating, to keep pushing our elected officials to act and protect your health now and in the future.
