Dear Future Grandchildren,

I am really sorry for all of the problems that we have caused. I feel really bad for all of those animals that are swimming in the oceans with plastic in it. We are going to recycle from now on. I wish people didn’t throw rubbish on the street because it is going in to the ocean and animals are going to get stuck in all that plastic. Also people can suffer. And if you put can holders on the street it bends up in the ocean and turtles and bother animals can get there head stuck in them.

But i know how to help that. We are going to recycle from now on. People might still throw rubish on the floor but we will pick.

Your sincelly ,
Olivia Coughlan

More Messages to the Future

Dear residents of Bedminster, Bristol UK,

We hope we did enough

To what we’ve overcome.

The first step would be in overcoming ourselves. Because whether we end up fading into obscurity, or thriving in prosperity, we will overcome ourselves.

Dear old dude Mårten,

I know that the 2019 version of me (today that is) wished and hoped for that I did all within my power to turn the world around without loosing sight on the beauty of being alive.

dear earth,

I promise those who walked the Earth before me and those who will walk the Earth after me that I will not stand by and let nature slip through my fingers.

Our Shared Promise

I will act today so you may have a healthy earth to live on.

I promise to plant more flowers.

I pledge to use less plastic!

To the future,

Today, I will hope and envision the future I wish to achieve. Then tomorrow, I will have tough conversations, I will call my local representatives, I will continue to fight for this world.

Dear Future,

I hope that things have cooled down. I hope that people and governments have come together to save our earth. I hope that everyone is able to breath clean air, drink clean water and see the beauty in nature that I do. I promise to do my best to take part in repairing the damage we’ve done so that my hopes may come true.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?

Dear Isaiah,

I am grateful for your soul, for your creativity, for your empathy. All these are precious treasures that you have to offer the world. They will help. I thank you for being in this world right now, so that you can offer these gifts at a time of transition.

Dear Tomorrow,

This is just the beginning. It’s the accrual of little seeds of change that will lead to the tree of revolution.
