Dear future generations,

I’m writing this in 2021 and as you know lots of stuff has happened. Thinking about all of the things I have learned this year about the future, I have been worrying about not getting to live out my full life. In our class we have learned about how in 2050 we will run out of food and I will only be 43 at that point.

I hope that I will grow old and have everything I have ever wanted. I hope that every person gets that wish. I don’t want to have my family go hungry due to the land being destroyed. I don’t want to have no water because all of the fresh water has run out. I don’t want to have to all move to the moon because of the large scary effects of climate change and global warming.

I want everyone to be happy and healthy.

I promise that I will do my part to reduce my carbon footprint wether that’s just by carpooling more, or using less electricity, I want to grow up in a better world and I want the future generations to grow up in a better world.
I promise that I will encourage others to do the same.

Climate change is something that not everyone believes in, but effects everyone. I don’t want the future generations to live life without all of the things the other generations were blessed with.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Future Ryan,

I promise to be a knight in the campaign of truth seeking.

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

Dear Malasher and Alex,

My goal was to help you grow into better citizens of our planet; to help you care about our natural world and to make everyday choices that reflect concern for our beautiful earth and our own health as well as encourage you to work together to make changes in our community.

To earth & its inhabitants,

Its been heavy on my shoulders since I found out about the state of climate woes as a child.

Dear Tripp,

I promise to do my part, supporting federal legislation to protect our earth while starting small with projects at home.

Future Self & Ka’iulani,

We promise to reduce the amount of carbon we use on a daily basis.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to pick up trash at every beach I visit 🙂 and to bike for local errands.

Dear Tomorrow

I will get my roommates to be more environmentally friendly.

Queridas crianças do mundo inteiro,

Dear next generation,

Please don’t wait to see the adverse effects instead adopt that river, stream, lake or ocean to make the world a better place.

Dear Ezmae,

As I write this, I consider giving up as it sometimes seems that all is lost. But then I think of you.

Dear Me of Tomorrow,

I plan to plant more things this spring, as we do every year in our garden.
