Dear future generations,

I am currently living in the 21st century. In the 19th century our species began the industrial revolution. This changed our world forever and brought our species major advancements. However, these activities depended upon the extraction and burning of fossil fuels. The consumption of these fossil fuels released incredible amounts of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. The problem with this is that the release of this carbon dioxide is causing our planet to warm. If our planet continues to warm at the current rate, it will be incredible disastrous for our species and all other living things.

The good news is that we are aware that this is going on and it is still not too late to save our planet. The bad news is that we are highly dependent on these fossil fuels and making the switch to renewable energy has been a slow process. The worse news is that a lot of the most powerful people in the world do not believe that human caused climate change is real. This has made the process the reverse these effects very, very difficult.

We have a responsibility to take care of Earth for future generations. By the year 2050 I hope that we are out of the fossil fuel era. This means that people in 2050 have changed their habits, elected believers, and embraced renewable energy. It would be very disappointing if this is not true and we hit the point of no return. This will be especially disappointing since we know exactly which anthropomorphic activities are causing the warming of our planet. Climate change is big news right now. A lot of people are working on the solution, but a lot of people are also fighting against it. It is a very uphill battle.

Dear Future Explorers,

I am often faced with the question: why do I care so much about this pale blue dot that we inhabit?

Dear Generations to Be,

If we could all slow down, look around and connect: with each other, the Earth, the sky, the plants and rocks and animals, then maybe we can all remember to treat everyone and everything with respect and live in love.

Dear Future Self,

More than getting through a global pandemic that has already taken hundreds of thousands of lives around the world, our true feat is even larger: to secure our long-term health and the health of the ecosystems upon which we depend for life. To do that, we have to cut our emissions in half in the next ten years, and continue to reduce it beyond that. And to succeed in that, we need to fundamentally shift the way we do EVERYTHING.
