Dear future child whatever your name is,

I’m 12 right now so I have no idea who you are.

Climate change right now is really bad, I’m writing this during the COP26 conference in Glasgow (which is an hour away) and I’m listening to politicians talking about promises for the future.

“If we fail, future generations will never forgive us.” -Boris Johnson

I really wish our attempts work out to fix this world, I hope that you (my future child) can have a cozy, and snowy Christmas like I love.

I shall try to lessen the plastic and waste I use.

I’m also going to try and stick to my diet of a vegetarian. My family has started to order milk from a very local dairy that brings the milk in glass bottles. We’ve started using less plastic, we’ve also not been eating meat at the house. My dad does have to eat meat drive a lot though (because of Cop26 and his job there)🤦‍♀️

My mom is teaching a lesson on sport and the environment with the university of Stirling.

Hope everything is doing well where you are. See you in like 20 years 🤗

-Gwen… your mother

More Messages to the Future

Dear Peyton and Lucas,

I want you to continue to enjoy bright, beautiful, blue skies, gigantic shady trees, chirping birds, scampering squirrels, sparkling creeks and all that this amazing world has to offer!

Espero de coração que, no futuro, você possa olhar para trás e se orgulhar muito dos pais que teve.

to my dearest children,

Our future is being made now, and I promise to do everything in my power to make yours safe.

Dear Kai and Leah,

I want you to feel awestruck like I do. It is important to feel small sometimes, to feel the weight of reality, to recognize the scale of a challenge, to see where you fit and what you are up against. This is the case with climate change.

My dearest Paloma Bear,

I want the very best for you and for generations to come. There is only one planet earth. Your mommy and I will make a genuine effort to make an impact to protect it for you.

To my future self,

It is today on March 6th, 2017 that you have made the decision to make a difference in this world.

Dear Tomorrow,

Don’t use plastic straws!

Dear Tanuj,

The time has come to question ourselves as citizens about our own actions and the legacy we are leaving behind.

Dear Tara,

Each of us only has so much power and the problem is HUGE, but I worked at this every day.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use a water bottle.

Dear Grandchildren,

So here we are. In 2022 millions of people are suffering from the climate catastrophes, killing pollution and pandemic, not mentioning about poverty, gender and social injustice, racism, wars and dictatorships that can go on as long as bad people in power are allowed to grab our natural resources.

Querida Emanoely,

Gostaria que você se lembrasse das lições simples que mamãe e papai te ensinou, como cuidar das plantas e dos espaços coletivos.
