My hope is for all who live in your time to still know the joy of swimming in the ocean, walking through the woods, and hiking in the mountains.

Dear Future

The date is November 5, 2017. The way things are right now, have me worried for the year to come. Our government officials refuse to see how our civilization is slowly killing our planet, and refuse to take action to stop it. Our air is becoming more polluted day by day and our oceans seem to be more plastic than water. These things although terrifying are not the end. I believe that we can still turn things around. I hope for those living in the future coal and oil burning is a thing only read about in books, and new forms or energy production like solar and wind, maybe even something us in 2017 can’t even imagine are what fuel your civilization. As someone living in such a time of uncertainty I can only hope the rest of my generation and those after mine can take control and lead our world into the better future that you may be living in now. I will do my part and help others do theirs, I hope it is enough.

My hope is for all who live in your time to still know the joy of swimming in the ocean, walking through the woods, and hiking in the mountains.

More Messages to the Future

To the generation after mine,

But when you encounter that resistance–and you will, regularly–know that you must respond just how we have had to these past 50 years. With love, and sternness, and most of all, courage. Because that is what the resistance fears the most. We who came before you promise that we will do the same while we wait for you. Know that you will never be alone.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to be creative – make art!

Dear Gabriel,

A message from co-founder Jill Kubit:
Writing letters to our kids about climate change is hard. It should be.

Dear Future Family,

As I’m sitting here trying to think of the best words to say to you all, I am thinking of one major thing: that I can only hope that you all get to experience the incredible beauty created by our planet.

To my daughters,

In order for you two be happy and healthy, we all need to work hard to prevent climate change.

Dear future loved ones,

As I sit here and write to you, I’d like to share with you something more horrifying than a few boos – our current home, Earth.

Dear Peyton and Lucas,

I want you to continue to enjoy bright, beautiful, blue skies, gigantic shady trees, chirping birds, scampering squirrels, sparkling creeks and all that this amazing world has to offer!

Dear Future,

“I knew you would want to know how the future turned out. You got so anxious about climate change as we grew older.  By coming back, I thought I could help you with that.”

My darlings, Juno & Vaeda,

You ask insightful questions, and together we learn about the mysterious world we inhabit.

Dear ACS, LG, CM, MCD, AH, MS, AS, GL, and ERD,

I commit to demanding that politicians that want my vote, my time, my substantial help and expertise are people who seek to address climate change seriously and talk about it boldly.

Dear sons,

I’ve been so busy since 2012 working towards getting a price on carbon.

To my dear son,

Last year most of the world’s reefs turned white at some point, but because it was underwater you and your friends didn’t see.
