Dear Furture Self,

Your impact on the world is not insignificant. In this changing world, it is important to remain informed and active in preserving resources and living as cleanly as possible. Continue to share your passions for the environment with others and connect with like-minded people. For future generations, maintain a minimal carbon footprint. Even little actions such as using a reusable water bottle and finding another means of carrying groceries aside from plastic bags are steps in the right direction. For the future of the precious planet, of the future of all who in inhabit it, be mindful of your lifestyle and make small changes, encouraging others to do the same.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Abigail and Olivia,

What stories will you tell them about our generation? Will we be heroes or villains?

Dear Tomorrow,

The road I learned to ride my bike on, the field where I kicked my first soccer ball, and the park I ate my first ice cream cone at, could all be gone.

Dear Evan,

What has most inspired me to act is wanting to be able to look you in the eye and say, “When I became aware of the existential threat of climate change, I did all I could.”  Despite my pessimism, I act in the hope it can make a difference for future generations and all the precious life on our fragile planet.

Dear Tripp,

I promise to do my part, supporting federal legislation to protect our earth while starting small with projects at home.

To my precious children

I want clean air, clean energy and muddy feet for you. I want this for all children.

Dear Future Self,

More than getting through a global pandemic that has already taken hundreds of thousands of lives around the world, our true feat is even larger: to secure our long-term health and the health of the ecosystems upon which we depend for life. To do that, we have to cut our emissions in half in the next ten years, and continue to reduce it beyond that. And to succeed in that, we need to fundamentally shift the way we do EVERYTHING.

Filha,

Saiba que enquanto eu tiver vida, minha voz não calará para alertar o mal que estamos fazendo agora para as nossas gerações futuras…

Dear Grown up Alton and Dot,

The most important thing in my life is you, which means that as your mom – I am doing my very best to make sure that when you read this letter, Earth is a cleaner and safer place for you and your children.

Dear Gabriel,

When the worst consequences of climate change still feel far away today, or the barriers to acting on climate change seem steep today, I do not think about today. I think about you, and your world when you are my age.

Querido amanhã,

Eu quero esse mundo melhor para você, onde o povo tem voz, seja lá quem você seja, eu vou fazer se tudo para proporcionar um mundo melhor para você.

Dear future 82-year old me,

29 years later, I wish I still can ride bike and go some lovely places in nature. Sky is blue and air is fresh, I will be shining under the sun.

My Dear Paloma,

I’m going to commit to raising you with your eyes open. Being aware as much as we can, how to better our environment together.
