Dear Emma,

You think a lot about how individual acts and lifestyle changes are necessary for people to understand what is they are truly impacting. Research and volunteering can help you to make more positive impacts on the environment, while abandoning old habits that are detrimental to our ecosystem. You want to live waste free, but you can’t convince those around you that it’s possible. It’s the hypocrisy of humanity, but today it’s possible. One thing to remember is that you’ve adopted a way to divert food waste from the landfill and prevent climate change, but what about food packaging! You need to eat more fresh food, not just to avoid food packaging, but also to benefit your health! Another really important part of the environment is education; so many people live their life as if the Earth is disposable, but it’s so much more than that, and since you know and are continuing to lean more and more about the reality of the environment, you can help in bringing awareness. Today, your promise is to prevent waste, promote education, stay healthy, and live sustainably.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Students,

I imagine at this point we have dropped our addiction to coal, gas, and oil and that our environment has made a turn for the better with the solar, wind, and other unimagined (at this point) alternative energy choices are in place.

Dear Tomorrow,

My climate action is to educate youth to create solutions for energy efficiency and conservation opportunities.

dear future children,

As I write this, our world is slowly giving way to climate change.

Dear Jamie and Jason,

My inspiration was the two of you. It started with thinking about the world you were inheriting and what your future was going to be like. But then you taught me how important it is to listen to you – to listen to young people.

Dear future 82-year old me,

29 years later, I wish I still can ride bike and go some lovely places in nature. Sky is blue and air is fresh, I will be shining under the sun.

Dear Thomas,

When you look at me with those big beautiful eyes and that innocent smile, you make me want to fight harder. And I do.

My dear granddaughter Christy,

My own curiosity and knowing what a caring, aware young woman you are help me override despair.

Dear next generation,

Please don’t wait to see the adverse effects instead adopt that river, stream, lake or ocean to make the world a better place.

Dear My Future Child,

I want to sculpt a world for you where you can play outside without gas masks, an ocean to swim in without toxins, and a thick lively forest for you to wander.

Dear Future,

I will use less plastic.

Dear Malasher and Alex,

My goal was to help you grow into better citizens of our planet; to help you care about our natural world and to make everyday choices that reflect concern for our beautiful earth and our own health as well as encourage you to work together to make changes in our community.

Dear Donatella,

We ran through the woods laughing, crying, and living.
