Dear daughter,

Right now, things in the world seem a little grim. Things with the climate especially seem hopeless, but I’m writing to you to tell you I want to do better. In the past few years, I’ve learned so much about this Earth – its beauty, its power, and its value. But a lot of my actions, as well a the actions of others, haven’t communicated these truths.

I want you to know that I want to – and will do – better. I want to build a better world so that you can live a life where the Earth is valued, healed, and life-giving. To do that, there’s so much I need to do. But, I’ll do it for you – because you deserve this world.

More Messages to the Future

Dear Generations to Be,

If we could all slow down, look around and connect: with each other, the Earth, the sky, the plants and rocks and animals, then maybe we can all remember to treat everyone and everything with respect and live in love.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will eat vegan, organic, locally grown, and seasonal.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to take my bike everywhere. Taking Golden Gate Transit to SF tonight.

Dear Ari and Levi,

Luckily, we have figured out ways to build things without making the air dirty, and we are trying very hard to get more people to switch over to this new way as fast as we can.

Dear Tomorrow

I promise to educate others TODAY.

Dear Eleanor,

It seems silly to saddle yourself with guilt for something that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want to do that. As of today, I don’t really feel guilty. I guess I just want to make sure I keep doing more, so that when you read this, and ask what I’ve done since then, I can still feel good about my efforts.

Paz e bem

Vivamos a vida com intensidade, Não nos importando a localidade.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to pick up trash at every beach I visit 🙂 and to bike for local errands.

Dear friends,

Rather than exploit it, destroy it, poison it, why don’t we just enhance the beauty of it, guard it, and love it?

Dear future self,

I am writing this to keep myself accountable and push myself towards taking action towards a sustainable future. I hope children of the future can still appreciate the wonders that nature and all its beings have to offer, appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

Dear Grandchildren — August and any others who were born after him

I joined millions of other people who wrote letters and made calls urging our leaders to do more to care for the planet.

Dear Ezmae,

As I write this, I consider giving up as it sometimes seems that all is lost. But then I think of you.
