Dear children of the future,

When I was younger, I often thought that I should start rearing horses since the future generation will not have any fuel for their cars and I can make a good business out of it. I felt thrilled about going to the time when people used to travel for months to reach their destination. But with time, I discovered that we will perish before fuel and for burning those fuel.

We are the most greedy generation of human history. Some people are trying to save the world. By this time you know the result. If it didn’t work, don’t forgive us. Because great things do not happen automatically. It needs sacrifice. And we do not want to give up a seat in the bus for older people; how can we sacrifice the lure of so said modern life!

Anyway, this is a great place to live. It used to be. Most of the people of this planet are actually good people. Even the bad people are good in some extent. They are just securing their future with money which are earned by destroying the world and the morality of its inhabitants. So I hope it will not go as it is going now. We will do something. And if we fail, you will. Because you will realize the problem from the very beginning of your life. I hope.

Yours,
Another stupid inhabitant of the world.

More Messages to the Future

To my precious grandchildren, Emma, Maya, Maddie and Will,

With love and a great hope for the future, a future that will be healthy and sustainable for you, my precious grandchildren.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to use my reusable water bottle more often

Hey kiddo,

I’ll be here to tell you all the ways I have fought for the health of our home, and fought to protect all of the wide, open spaces for you to run in. When you’re old enough, we can fight together.

Dear Nuriel, Eliran, and Rotem,

Sometimes I think we will never make it, but I know we must keep trying.

To my darling ones,

And it’s not that I don’t care. I care deeply. For you three, and the families I hope you will have one day; for the many beautiful places I have had the privilege to know, places which take my breath away, that fill my heart with a bursting joy and connectedness to something so much greater than I, places I know may be quite different when you are my age

To my Beloved Future Children,

Be fearless – do not be afraid to talk to each other and do not be afraid to fail.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise to eat less meat.

Dear Llewyn, beloved grandson …

I can only say that I devoted myself to doing as much as I could to make it better, to provide for a just transition, and to fight those forces that continued to exploit the Eaarth with extractive methods, methods that always also included oppressing some people–because those doing the oppression believed that they were better and deserved more.

Dear Tomorrow,

I promise I will do everything I can to help fight against climate change.

Dear Potential Future Kiddo,

To think that my choices of sustainable commuting, eating a plant based diet, and working on our City’s zero waste program likely pale in comparison to the impact of not having a baby is nothing short of devastating.  Does it make me a bad environmentalist to honor my maternal instincts?

Dear Society,

If we work together to spread the awareness of what is occurring today, we will be able to prevent it from continuing into the tomorrow.

Dear Darlings,

I commit to you to change one thing a year in our lifestyle to live more environmentally friendly.
